I am interested in understanding language acquisition and processing, particularly semantics, from computational neurolinguistic and psycholinguistic perspectives

I graduated from Case Western Reserve University in May 2023 with degrees in Cognitive Science and Computer Science.

fire

i still hear of a place over yonder
streaks of red and gold weave all through
the clouds yet speak of it when i ponder
but a careless fate still ensues
i hear the call for a fear of desire
enter the dragon
dancing in fire

water

adjourn below a bridge with trains of thought
where the water sparkles but streams are lost
faulting years; rising oars kissing the sun
weaving through water
like boats on the river heeding none
attempts to scatter
stark pains to a liver needing none

flounder

we flounder to our fears
the whistling trees
mock shattered dreams
withering leaves
hide under expanse green
we flounder in the breeze

evalpal

local
only

Node.js, D3.js, Express.js, Javascript, MySQL

the problem: Case Western Reserve's course evaluation system is slow and the data is not aggregated across all years

the solution: a 300% faster and easier to use website with visualized customizable professor ratings

right now: working with the Vice Provost and Undergraduate Student Government to implement officially

basis

local
only

React.js, TypeScript, Django, PostgreSQL

the problem: it is difficult for beginner investors to create their own portfolios and filter through their data

the solution: a straightforward website based on modern portfolio theory with an extensive filtering system looking through 10 years of historic data

ulamp

local
only

Django, Javascript, PostgreSQL, EC2

the problem: different users of the same desk lamp want different settings

the solution: custom settings for different users of the same account using facial recogntion

meme cc

local
only

Python, Flask, Vue.js, PostgreSQL, TypeScript

the problem: it is difficult to find and search through the best memes from the vast internet

the solution: aggregated searchable memes from Reddit and Twitter and detected text with Tesseract

right now: working on a CNN to search memes based on contents of the memes and templates used

mia lexi

local
only

Java, Springboot, Vue.js, TypeScript

the problem: it is difficult for reading learners and learning-disabled people to read on the internet

the solution: the ability to read one word at a time through different modes with practice and censorship modes

right now: project support ended

declutter

script
only

Python

the problem: it is difficult to manage large folders with messy files

the solution: a script to organize folders into subfolders based on things like file types and common words

Child Input Patterns

local
only

R, HuggingFace, Spacy

the problem: we do not know why digital media reduces child productivity linguistically and whether digital media affects transitive verb overgeneralizations

the solution: a comparative study of the input patterns of maternal input and input from YouTube Kids, with a pipeline that can be extended to overgeneralization measurements

Associative memory inhibition in language switching

local
only

R, Python, PyMC, pandas

the problem: when trilinguals try to speak in their third language, they receive more interference from their second language compared to their first. the reason why is unknown

the solution: hypothesize that associative memory is involved in inhibition. to test the hypothesis, a bayesian network based on inhibitory control fMRI data and linguistic differences was created. the network can be extended to causally infer the role of associative memory

Named entity recognition and Bias

local
only

Python, tomotopy

the problem: bias is a common problem when identifying named entities in text like people and organizations

the solution: attempting to use a topic modeling bayesian algorithm to emphasize contextual awareness
